Heartfelt Tribute To A Nonagenarian With A Centurion Heart!

HEARTFELT TRIBUTE AND SHRADHANJALI TO A NONAGENARIAN WITH A CENTURION HEART! YOU WILL ALWAYS REMAIN IMMORTAL IN OUR HEARTS!

(LEFT US ALL ALONE AND WENT TO HIS HEAVENLY ABODE 12TH AUGUST 2019 AT 11.34 AM)

It is rarely that I get emotional unless when cowed down heavily by situations or events that bring you down to a level where your senses no more support you, your body falls limp, and your mind goes on a roller coaster ride to those days when your childhood whizzes past in your mind and you feel those days were better! Yes today is possibly one of those days, but I am at loss for words and in uncontrollable tears and choking, yet so happy to bring back with pride memories and heartfelt regards and respects to the person who is the only pivotal constructor of my life and what I am today. I may have never expressed this earlier to anyone but my heart swells with pride to do so today.

Dinkar Ramrao Katre (Dinkar Maam to many) or our dear Bappa as I fondly called him is to me what I would call an epitome of selfless love, compassion, sacrifice, and above all an example of what determination, grit and integrity can make a person an idol to many in life as he is to me. I am sure there will be many who will vouch for this with their life as I do, but there are no words to describe the wonderful times I spent in my life with this Gem of a person. I have no qualms in admitting that unfortunately though I did not have the privilege and luxury of partaking the love of my own father, Bappa more than compensated, in fact showered me with the fatherly love, affection, care and upbringing which maybe many a fathers of today are not capable of doing. That is my biggest gift and wealth in life. Today my heart goes out to him in reverence and love in saying that you may be far away from us in but you have always remained and will remain in our hearts and minds for ever!

A man of simple tastes, down to earth, a strict disciplinarian yet above all a loving "Father" as I have always been privileged and fortunate to be soaking and basking in his love and affection all through my childhood, and until I could stand on my own feet and even today. What makes me remember him today is the value of the upbringing that he gave me and all of us which not only makes me proud of him, and myself , but the culture and traits that he inculcated in us which have made us strong enough to face the onslaught of this ruthless world today. It is this same culture and upbringing that I have carried on to my child and daughter Mansi Kate who is equally in awe of this her loved Grandfather or "Billi Billi Ajju" (soft-cheeked ajju) as she used to fondly call him as she has fond memories of meeting him many years ago and she always loves to fondly pinch and cuddle up to the soft cheeks of grandparents.

I could go on for hours on end writing about him but suffice to say at this moment, without allowing myself to get emotional,  is to express our deepest love and gratitude to him for all that he has been in my life. He has always put being of service to others and happiness of others before self, and faced life always with a smile on his face irrespective of what he may have been going through! Regret to admit that maybe our new generation is not able to do even a mere percentage of what he did and we too can do. For me he has and will always remain my silent Idol in life. Strong, caring, powerful, and always omnipresent in our hearts. If today I am able to even express a hint of my love and gratitude for him albeit without any specific reason I will feel blessed that I have at the least if not more to say and express "Bappa we love you and always will love you" - Tum jiyoge hajaro saal.....

Here are a few images I managed to save which will revive those fond memories about what we all feel about him and respect him for!

In fact It hurts further to imagine and soak in the Truth that we lost two of these amazing siblings within a period of 3 days . While our dearest Shantakka (Asha) Mundkur left us on the 9th of August 2019 - Dear Dinkar Bappa followed on 12th August 2019 - ॐ शान्ति, शान्ति, शान्ति

Thank you for being the most wonderful part of our life! You will always remain an inspiration for all of us!

Martyrs of Marriage - An Eye-Opener By Deepika Narayan Bhardwaj

Martyrs of Marriage - An Eye-Opener by Deepika Narayan Bhardwaj

A Film on how Dowry Laws are being misused in India to settle personal scores and how millions of Men and their families are falling prey to this draconian law. A Film dedicated to the men of this country who have ended their lives fighting false cases and torture in the name of Marriage.

Continuing on my my earlier post "Men The Forgotten Gender" - which had featured the talk given by Deepika Narayn Bhardwaj, I had mentioned therein about her Documentary Film "Martyrs of Marriage" - A Film on how Dowry Laws are being misused in India to settle personal scores and how millions of Men and their families are falling prey to this draconian law. My intention is to share with the public this wonderful effort made by her in bringing to the fore a topic of great seriousness and importance.  As was clearly indicated in her talk in my earlier post, it is a valiant effort by a lady to take up the topic for Gender Biased laws.

My intention of this post is only to promote her good work so that those who are in need of help and assistance and some who even may not be aware of these laws get that ray of hope. If my publishing this post can make a difference in the life of even one needy person I will be blessed!

I will be publishing the exact details of "About Martyrs of Marriage" as is given in her site Martyrs of Marriage at - http://www.martyrsofmarriage.com/
The reason for this being I would not like to dilute the impact of the work she has done on that film by trying to paraphrase the content which is so striking and shocking. With due credit to her I give below the content for you to read.

Martyrs of Marriage

"More than 62,000 married men committed suicide in year 2011 alone, as per official records of the National Crime Records Bureau, an entity under the Ministry of Home Affairs, India.

More and more men are resorting to this alternative because of severe mental, physical and economical abuse in strained marital relationships. The worst however is the legal torture that men of this country are subjected to - courtesy section 498A of IPC. Any woman of this country can file this section against her husband, his parents and relatives (howsoever distant they are), at any point of marriage (even after 22 years), get them arrested and make them a puppet in hands of police, media and judiciary. Even if it’s a false allegation, a person has to undergo he trial, is considered guilty until proven innocent. The only way out for a husband’s family, if implicated in a false case is either to give in to the demands of the women (property, cash and any other fancy demands) or fight the case with the system for next 5-6 years at least. Even the Supreme Court of India has accepted the misuse of IPC 498A and termed it as "Legal Terrorism".

Martyrs of Marriage is a first person account of those who have suffered, fought and finally won the most unexpected battle in their lives – the battle of marriage. It is also a journey of those who are currently fighting for their rights, their innocence and their life.

Martyrs of Marriage is a story that needs to be told to change the mindsets that only a woman can be a "victim".

Martyrs of Marriage is a story of countless women who have suffered due to those very laws that are meant to protect and empower women against any abuse.

Crime does not know any Gender. Martyrs of Marriage is a movement for equality, a movement to save the innocent and a fight for punishment of the guilty irrespective of Gender!"

Dare To Care Hugs. - Always There For You Forever!

DARE TO CARE HUGS!!!! -  ALWAYS THERE FOR YOU FOREVER!

A big thank you to all my friends for being with me all the way when I needed you all the most! These Hugs have all the more importance today when I take the first steps into a life full of Newly discovered Success, Excitement, Happiness, Challenge, Fulfillment, which has come at the end of a long dark tunnel. It were you all, friends, fans, well-wishers and relatives that stood by me all through and gave me the strength when I needed it most. Just want to say a big Thank you and tell you that you are not forgotten! You are and will all remain in my mind, hearth and prayers in every step I take. These are only humble words of Gratitude expressed from the bottom of my heart to you all! Thank you for being what you were and are to me always! Take care - Stay Blessed! God Bless!

I may not be a Guru! I am not rich! But I am full of sparkle, compassion, love, caring, trust, and togetherness. I may be possessive because I love hard, unconditionally and loyally and am proud of it, no matter what others think about it. I give respect and take respect. I practice kindness, empathy, and forgiveness because that is ME. I am loyal, supportive, understanding, adventurous and surprising, and that's enough to make you fall in love. I make mistakes because I am human, but I own own them because I am responsible, and learn from them. I've been misunderstood, used, trodden like a doormat, but I stand up strong because I trust myself, my integrity and above all God!

I'm that type of person who will look you in the eye and say "I love you" because I mean every word of it and it comes from a heart selfless and pure. I've laughed, I've cried, I've choked and I've died, but I was reborn because I genuinely want to make the world a better place to live in. Love me or Hate me, I'm Proud of myself, and above all I can say with pride - come to me - for all I have to share with this world is love, compassion, and understanding! I have no money to spare but one great 'Hug" that cares!

One thing I can guarantee - "No matter what, when you need me I'll always be there!". Remember you don't need money to share love, compassion, trust, loyalty, kindness, and empathy. If you are are like me and feel like me just reply "I Do". Make someones day and share with all those who want to share your compassion with and express to them that you will always be there when they need you, even if it is sending to me! (Or not me!!!!)....God Bless!

Men - The Forgotten Gender - An Eye Opener

Men - The Forgotten Gender - An Eye Opener

Sometimes it needs a jolt out of the Blue or a small incident or spark of light so to say to set right a misdirected initiative or a totally dormant issue to take a new course towards enlightenment and even freedom. I can but say that maybe today was a day for me to come across a video which was published on Facebook, which literally not only opened my eyes but also sparked my almost dead conscience, mind, and even body. Most of us do not tend to open up our personal issues in front of society for the fear of being ridiculed or even looking downcast in society in front of your "Community" but we forget the oft quoted saying that it is an even greater crime to bear in silence or watch in silence when a crime is being committed, and worse still when you are a part and party to it yourself.

I want to share this video which I am embedding below which was the main reason and inspiration behind my creating this post which I had indeed planned to publish a very long time ago and also take up this issue seriously in public. But as I mentioned earlier matter of greater priorities than this made me hold back my action. Today I will first share the video below, and also later share contents of the film 'Martyrs of Marriage" by the same author, journalist, and Documentary filmmaker Deepika Narayan Bhardwaj in my subsequent posts with my own review and comments on this issue. All I can say is as an eye-opener this will suffice to open up the topic for the general public, which I am sure she too has done, but I am trying to do my part.

Deepika talks about the how men in the Indian society are suffering due to the draconian Indian Penal Code which is made for the protection of women but ignores men and their issues. She addresses the Indian Dowry Act from the perspective of men. Deepika talks of men who are victimized and systematically abused by laws that are made for women but are abused to victimize men.

Deepika Narayan Bhardwaj is a Journalist, Anchor and a Documentary Filmmaker. Her first documentary ‘Gramin Dak Sevak’ was Jeevika All Asia Livelihood Film Festival 2009, student film winner. Her second documentary ‘Youth Count’ was broadcast on India’s leading News channel NDTV 24x7. Her third project ‘Garima’ was a commissioned, short documentary film by USAID and Counterpart International. A software engineer turned Journalist, she was one of the ten media professionals selected from around the world for ‘Future Media Leaders Course’ conducted by Thomson Foundation, UK. She is currently making documentary called “Martyrs of Marriage” which is a commentary on the issue of Men’s right and abuse of one-sided gender centric laws in the Indian Penal Code.

This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
I am sure this will lay bare the already serious topic and also be a source of inspiration to many men who have been dogged by this issue, and till now have never taken the initiative to raise their voice.

I SERIOUSLY SUGGEST YOU WATCH THROUGH THIS WHOLE VIDEO!

*******
I have intentionally left this post at this juncture to allow people to watch this video repeatedly if required, to let the topic soak into your conscience and mind, and feel empathy and not sympathy towards all those men who are living a hell in similar situations. In most cases it is our culture that comes in between our actions, and sometimes it is utter lack of knowledge of the the laws and worst still the drawbacks in these laws that makes men hold back from taking any action. I am sure this video will shine a new ray of hope for those men and their families.

In my subsequent follow up post I will write more about the wonderful Platform Deepika Narayan Bhardwaj has set up through her film - Martyrs of Marriage" ....as she rightly says and I quote - " Crime does not know any Gender. Martyrs of Marriage is a movement for equality, a movement to save the innocent and a fight for punishment of the guilty irrespective of Gender!"
