निवृत्त मी झालो,पण निवांत ती झाली

निवृत्त मी झालो,पण निवांत ती झाली 

निवृत्त मी झालो,पण निवांत ती झाली

सकाळच्या पहिल्या चहाची जबाबदारी माझ्यावर आली

दूध ऊतू जाऊ न देण्याची काळजी माझ्या शिरी आली

निवृत्त मी झालो, निवांत ती झाली ।

आजचा नाष्टा ठरवायची 

आणि, करायची पाळी माझ्यावर आली

कांदा चिरताना आसवे गाळायची वेळ आता माझ्यावर आली,

निवृत्त मी झालो, निवांत ती झाली ।

कुकरच्या शिट्यां मोजण्याची आता मला सवय झाली

तव्यावरची गरम पोळीही 

आताशा चटके देईना झाली

निवृत्त मी झालो, निवांत ती झाली ।

दुधाचा खाडा,पेपरचा खाडा फोन बिल, 

लाईट बिल हिशोब ठेवताना माझी त्रेधातिरपीट झाली                 

निवृत्त मी झालो, निवांत ती झाली । 

घड्याळाच्या काट्याबरोबर

फिरण्यातून, ती मुक्त झाली           

लवकर उठण्याची सवय

आता, तीने सोडून दिली 

निवृत्त मी झालो निवांत ती झाली ।

माझ्यासाठी धावणारी ती आता जरा थकू लागली

थकलेल्या तिच्या पावलांची आता मला चाहूल लागली

निवृत्त मी झालो निवांत ती झाली ।

सर्व निवृत्त सदस्यांसाठी

खरंच असं होतंय का?

Kudos to the writer for a frank and free expression of his thoughts which I am sure may match with many of us Senior Citizens which the poet asks at the end of the poem. I mean no disrespect to any better half of any person or women as a whole, and this whole poem should be taken on a lighter note while also enjoying the subtle way in which the writer has expressed the possible inner feeling of so many male senior citizens! Knowingly or unkowingly, willingly or unwillingly we are indeed sharing a part of the work load which our better half's were doing without a whimper. I for one do it with full enjoyment as well as gratitude for my better half. After all life is always shared in all its entirity, not parts as per our conveinence. So all due respects to them too!
