Simple Daily Exercise in Introspective Re-Awakening
🙏🥰 GOOD MORNING EVERYONE - START YOUR DAY WITH SOME INTROSPECTIVE RE-AWAKENING AND SEE HOW YOUR DAY BLOSSOMS 🥰🙏
In this jet set world we rarely get time to do a simple round of what I have termed as "Introspective Re-Awakening". But I suggest you do it daily. From my own personal experience I have known it to give me Peace, Solace, Calmness and a never before experienced sense of emotional satisfaction.
This is nothing out of the world but a simple routine that could change the way you live and at the same time bring about a change in the lives of other people around you.
You don't need to go the Gym for this or use Hi-Tech sports equipment, nor do you need to wear a sweat suit and run a mile. You do this all in the peace and tranquility of you own home, a Home Garden, Gallery or even if you want you can take a corner in a Public Garden with the fresh air around you which will further enhance the experience.
Sit in a calm and peaceful corner in a very comfortable position with your eyes closed. Keep a calm smiling face on. Slowly and steadily calm down your breathing to settle at a slow and deep normal breathing without any pressure or even awareness that you are making a conscious effort to breathe. The reason I mentioned about to try and sit in a Garden without distraction will now be seen and understood more prominently.
* Settle down to a breathing routine that is totally normal and without any control, natural and smooth.
* With eyes still closed, shift your awareness from the outside humdrum to a focused center point of your liking like your own cycle of breathing, or your heart beat, or a chirping of a bird in the background, rustling of leaves....anything that you will be able to relate with for at least a few seconds or minutes in continuity.
* Soak in that experience, and don't let your concentration wander off to another source.
* Slowly shift this focus on to another sound or feeling that you can focus on for some time without a break. You will realize slowly that your mind is now able to hear more sounds very clearly. You will be able to simultaneously hear the Crows cawing, the Sparrows chirping, the Parrot whistling, the rustling of the leaves, even the sound of the wind, and of course if you are sitting in a Public Garden maybe the chatting of other people around you.
* Soak in each and every experience totally and always remembering to keep a smiling face.
* Slowly in this same process try to shift focus from those sounds around you to your own body. Can you focus on your own breathing and the very sound of your own breathing? Can you listen to your heart beat? Initially you may find it a bit difficult to focus but as you do it for more days, your mind gets sharper and the time taken to focus is much lesser than your first day.
* Slowly shift to focusing your attention in a sort of Yogic form to just concentrate on the top of your head, slowly lowering it down, your eyes, ears, nose, mouth, neck, shoulders and in that fashion trying to "Feel" each and every part of your body right up to the toes of your feet. You may even try to give a small twitch or movement of that part to match with your thought which will give you a certain rhythm in your exercise. Once you have done this Head to Toe concentration. Just relax for some time.
* Now that your mind and body have calmed down, with eyes still closed, try to focus on any fixed thought or object of your choice with your mind itself. It could be a bright green tree with lush green leaves rustling in the morning air. Focus completely on that thought as if you are actually seeing that tree in front of you and soak in all that divine experience.
* Now slowly shift to another object like say a Naughty dog or puppy playing in the garden or a child playing in the garden. All this remember to do with your eyes closed and you are imagining it with your mind only. Become one with the happiness on the child's face, reach out to the child, fondle it, soak in that blissful feeling of every moment. Continue this with other objects like the sound of the birds, leaves, wind and come back to your own mind once again.
I can assure you that you will have found a sort of mesmerizing experience of numbness and inactivity in your body, as if the whole body has gone limp, but your mind will be all charged up. Slowly open your eyes and now try to soak in those same experiences with your eyes open. It will give you a divine experience.
NOW COMES THE NEXT STEP.
Don't try to get up suddenly as your body is not fully acclimatized to that posture, so allow some time to pass in your normal position, and bring yourself to normal.
How many times have we gone out and tried to bring a smile on someones face? It could be just saying a Good Morning, or a simple Hello to a neighbor, an Aged parent - your own or others around you, feed a stray dog or cattle, give something to eat to a needy child or adult on the roadside or just wrap your arms around an Elder and Aging person?
We barely have time for this. But this is where this Introspective Re-Awakening exercise takes you to a new level. Start with your home itself. If there are any elders in the home, give them a warm hug, ask them if they need anything, feed them a bite with your own hands - that extra something that will bring in a calmness and happiness to both of you.
Slowly move out of the house. You could carry anything you want to share with those near your home, maybe a few biscuits, Bread, Fruits, or even grain to feed the cattle. I don't need to tell you where to search for such divine subjects you will find them everywhere. It is not necessary that you do all of them on one day or at one time.
Feed some grains to stray cattle, a slice of bread to a hungry stray dog, a few biscuits or food to a needy roadside soul, or even give alms to the innumerable less fortunate who crowd around temples and holy places. It's not only about giving something to them daily, see if you can make their lives worthy of living, give them a job, some menial work from which they may earn some respectable income or anything that will make them self-sufficient.
Easier said than done I know, as I have personally experienced the sort of attitude some of these people have generated, in not doing any work as they know very well that spreading their arms in front of the rich who flaunt their own attitudes at shopping malls, temples etc are easy ways of making money rather than working hard, so it is a matter for introspection for all.
This is only one of the few routines or exercises which I would recommend you to try out and with more such articles to come in the same topic of Introspective Re-Awakening, I am sure you will have a totally new and invigorating face-off with your new self.
